Working with an experienced consultant with an in-depth knowledge of the lease negotiation process can help an airport achieve its objectives. Unison has the ability to provide its clients with thorough, creative and knowledgeable consulting, drawing on our experience at airports of all sizes and in a variety of situations.
Unison has assisted airport clients in developing and prioritizing goals, objectives and outcomes. Members of the Unison team have assisted in negotiations at more than 30 airports and have experience on both sides of the negotiation table, having been employed by airports and airlines.
Unison has developed a systematic and comprehensive four-step approach to lease negotiations. While this is our preferred approach, we are willing to adapt it as necessary, to meet a client's needs. Our preferred approach starts with obtaining an understanding of the client's existing lease document and financial situation. Next, we sit down with the client to develop a prioritized list of goals and objectives. Preparation is the key to a successful negotiation, so financial analysis, the development of position papers and term sheets, and airport negotiating team meetings follow. Finally, the actual negotiation process is commenced with negotiating meetings, follow-up and research on issues raised during the meetings, and the drafting of a new agreement.
